Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.

Lupe (Ivonne Contreras), an expectant mother working as a college fraternity house cook, is a warmhearted woman who is always there for others. Despite a life of poverty, she keeps an optimistic attitude and puts her fate in God's hands. Having just reunited with her husband José (Manuel Garcia Rulfo), who left her behind in their homeland to find work in the United States, she and José are excited to start their new life with a child. Things don’t work out exactly as planned, and in a moment of desperation, José does what anyone would do: find a way to survive.

Valle de Lágrimas (Valley of Tears) is a story about suffering and humanity, focusing on people dismissed and disregarded by society.

This film marks the first time collaboration between USC Film School undergraduate students and very good friends, Jon Paul Puno ("Water", "Peace Grows") and Michael Figari from a story by Puno and a screenplay by Puno and Figari. It features a remarkable cast including: Ivonne Contreras, Manuel Garcia Rulfo, Giovanni Bejarano and Vanessa Rivero.
