Other people within the film industry and the entertainment industry and other important festivals are aware of the Atlanta festival, and it's growing to the extent that filmmakers feel it's important to come down here and talk about their films, further their careers...They feel like this is a good place to do that. The Atlanta Film Festival is produced annually by IMAGE Film & Video Center. Over the past 29 years, the festival has introduced audiences to some of the most exciting and innovative media being created. Ranging from the hilarious to the visually arresting, from the provocative and highly controversial to the boldly experimental, the Atlanta Film Festival has become one of the country’s premiere showcases for work by independent media artists in the US and abroad. IMAGE (Independent Media Artists of Georgia, Etc.) was founded in 1977 by a group of Atlanta media producers and artists. Today, IMAGE is one of the most respected not for- profit media arts centers in the country. IMAGE’s mission is to build and support a strong media arts community in Atlanta and the Southeast by promoting the production, exhibition, and public awareness of film and video and unique forms of artistic expression.
